AYURVEDIC COOKING

We will cook an easy-to-prepare, balanced three-course meal with several side dishes and beverages. Our menu will be based on Ayurvedic principles of eating and digestion and intended to build our immunity during the cold, raw, moist season of winter. We will explore the energetics and health-building benefits of the food we prepare and discuss alternative menus for special diets and food sensitivities.

About the Workshop Presenters:
Alison Driscoll, D.Ay., is an Ayurvedic practitioner, who received her training and certification at the International Ayurvedic Institute and advanced training at the Ayurvedic Institute.
Theresa Piane Taylor is a graduate of the Institute of Integrative Nutrition through the Teachers’ College of Columbia University in New York City.
She is a certified health coach through the American Association of Drugless Practitioners.

Ayurveda literally means the science of life. It was brought into being by the sages (rishis) in India thousands of years ago and offers timeless wisdom in all areas of health and well-being. Its principles and practices are as applicable today as they were at its origin.
Ayurveda is a sister science to yoga. It was traditional in India tostudy Ayurveda before taking up the practice of yoga, in that only when the body was healthy and strong was a person considered ready to study the spiritual science of yoga.
After an overview of its history and philosophy, we will explore the basic principles of Ayurveda with an emphasis on its practical application to your daily life.
